Magnolia Fest: Jacksonville Represent!
This year’s Magnolia Festival lineup boasts an abundance of talent from all over the country, much of it from Florida. The Sunshine State has been on fire the past few years. The South Florida scene has been killing, likewise for Orlando, also bursting at the seams with talent. And the Tampa-St. Petersburg area is equally blessed.
What of our northern family in Jacksonville? No fewer than half a dozen groups from Jax are on the MagFest roster! Now that’s impressive! Some you may know, others you probably don’t — yet. We guarantee you will!
THURSDAY, 5:15, PORCH STAGE
The Ivey-West Band has the second MagFest slot, ready to warm the crowd up with their hot Southern rock with a healthy twang. They recently headlined the Little Big Jam 10.
THURSDAY, 7:00, PORCH STAGE
Back at the Porch Stage, prepare yourself for two truly heavenly voices, as Juanita Parkerurban and Myrna Stallings sing their way into your hearts with The Parker Urban Band. Absolutely mesmerizing, lifting you even higher. This superb band was the talk of Wanee and the Purple Hatter’s Ball with their uplifting sets.
THURSDAY, 8:45, PORCH STAGE
FRIDAY, 3:00, PORCH STAGE
SATURDAY, 2:00, MEADOW STAGE
When you see the The Corbitt Brothers from Jacksonville, you will swear there are five or six guys on stage. Isaac Corbitt has that effect, driving this powerful trio; he is a man many call the premier harp player in the U.S. You decide! The only band performing three times!
FRIDAY, NOON, MUSIC HALL
Bonnie Blue (Jacksonville) delivers Southern rock, Florida style. They too impressed at Wanee, and it’s great to see them return to the park.
SATURDAY, 1:30, MUSIC HALL
Flagship Romance are a true harmonic alternative folk duo. Their refreshing lyrics and sounds will please and delight you.
SATURDAY, 3:00, MUSIC HALL
JacksonVegas claims to be alternative folk rock, but on video after video they rock out! And a little birdie says the Parkerurbans and Myrna might join them, which would be beyond deluxe (Pat, take note).
SATURDAY, 7:15, PORCH STAGE
SUNDAY, 1:30, AMPHITHEATRE
And, yes, these boys too are from Jacksonville, but they deserve to be intergalactically known: Grandpa’s Cough Medicine. If’n you wanna hear songs about ‘shine, trackin’ pedophiles, takin’ bribes, and beggin’ for release (yep, that kind), these are your boys.
Enjoy what Jacksonville brings for your ears! Have a great time at MagFest! MusicFestNews will see you there. Please come say hello!
