Joe Marcinek Express Rolls Down the Track

There is just no stopping The Joe Marcinek Band — regardless of who is in the band that particular week! He has already played shows all across the U.S. (and on Jam Cruise!), and he has much more coming, including several editions of his Dead Funk Summit.

Up first: a show in Davenport, Iowa, featuring frequent bandmates Melody Trucks and outstanding Fitzkee Brothers. The following night, that whole crew heads to Martyr’s in Chicago for Marcinek’s 40th Birthday Concert and special Dead Funk Summit also featuring Mr. Blotto, Calvin Rodgers, Sharay Reed, and more.

Then it’s back to Marcinek’s second home: Florida… and Dunedin Brewery, for the Spring Beer Jam, where he will be an artist in residence and will perform with Mike Bryant in their experimental project Brain Emoji. The Florida includes his debut at Tarpon River Brewery in Fort Lauderdale and two nights at the storied Green Parrot.

Dead Funk Summit hits North Carolina twice featuring Melvin Seals, Tony Hall, Cliff Porter, and Elise Testone in Asheville and Raleigh. After the VibeTime Flying Disc Festival and a post-Dead & Company Las Vegas show, Marcinek is doing his annual Jazz Fest Dead Funk Summit at the NOLA Crawfish Festival on April 29. Joining the insane lineup are George Porter Jr., Tony Hall, Big Sam, Michael Lemmler, Terrence Houston, Brad Walker, and more! Marcinek is also involved with the afterparties on April 29 and 30 at Zony Mash as Terrapin Flyer and Melvin Seals do JGB the first night and the Dead night two.

The ninth Joe Marcinek Band album, The Groove Session, will hit the airways and interwebs April 29. For this project, the band includes Jesús Molina, piano; Manny Sanchez, drums; and Ronnie Sanchez, bass. Guests include Greg Spero, keyboards; Tracy Silverman, violin; and Howard Levy.
