Mad Decent Block Party 2015: Diplo + Friends bring the party to your city!
Mad Decent Block Party will be making a very twerkful return this year, and chances are they will be coming to city near you! Starting in Atlanta on July 31st and ending in Chicago on September 26th, there will be 18 cities that will endure the madness. Since there is a huge lineup, not every artist will make it to your city, so this mean every block party will be unique in its own way. The Block Party will be making history at Masquerade Music Park, Revolution Live, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and LA Center Studio, to name a few.
The label’s creator, Wesley Pentz, will be performing at most shows as 1/3 of Major Lazer, 1/2 of Jack Ü and 100% as Diplo. Headliner’s such as Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Knife Party, and Porter Robinson will also be coming on board for what we know will be a very Decent set. The label will also be promoting upcoming artists such as Alison Wonderland, Shiba San, Meaux Green, and Cut Copy. Every artist brings something special to the stage that will cater to our every part of our musical taste buds.
The first original Block Party in 2008 made its debut outside The Mausoleum, a defunct mausoleum-manufacturing warehouse that served as the label’s original headquarters in Philly. Now it has grown to selling out shows and gathering over 196,000 likes on the their official Block Party Facebook page. The event used to be free, and then it went to an RSVP system on Facebook on a first-come, first-served basis. However, in 2013 they had to switch to a ticketed system after becoming overcrowded. Diplo announced that it was not about making money but being able to accommodate all the people who want to come. “The intent wasn’t to have this giant blow-out; it was just to have a fun day and hang out with friends and play music,” said Jasper Goggins, manager at Mad Decent Records.
