No Such Thing as TOO MUCH of The Ain’t Sisters!
So here is what happens: As soon as we post an article about the upcoming shows by The Ain’t Sisters, they add MORE shows! Now nobody has ever complained about TOO MUCH Ain’ts, we’re just sayin’…
that they have MORE shows! They have a five-show Florida run starting Sunday, December 8, at The Original Café Eleven in St. Augustine. They even added a show AFTER they created their Florida tour poster (Cage Brewing in St. Pete). They hit Holi-Daze in Chamblee at the end of the month.
The Ain’t Sisters will play the legendary 40 Watt Club in Athens in January and a show previously scheduled at the ill-fated Salvage Station. They have two festivals scheduled for the Florida Sand Music Ranch in Brooksville: Whippersnap Music and Arts Festival in February and Florida Americana Festival in April. The Ain’ts will also join Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and others in July during the Beech Mountain Resort Summer Concert Series.
And of course they’ll announce a passel of more dates just as soon as we publish. And we are here for that!
Oh, and there was Suwannee Hulaween:
Paul Levine popped up on stages at important times. He came out to welcome The Ain’t Sisters, the no-holds-barred combo from Atlanta that has developed an amazing following. They were scheduled for three sets at the ill-fated Suwannee Roots Revival (thanks for nothin’, Helene); Levine’s introduction was just magnificent, and the quintet responded in kind.
Arrie Bozeman began with a full white beard, looking suspiciously like Bob Weir (who was set to perform next). That went soon as they romped through their setlist of originals, including the obligatory “Shake Your Taint.” The “Creek > Late Checkout > Creek > Crime” was superb, and they finished by dedicating to Lesh a gorgeous new ballad by Barb Carbon titled “Beyond the Blue” about the grief of losing friends too soon.
[AIN’T: Bloom (instrumental) > Birds, Creek > Late Checkout > Creek > Crime, Shake Your Taint, The Fighter, Horses, Wellers > Manik Panik, Let There Be Love, Beyond the Blue (for Phil)]
The Ain’t Sisters are: Arrie Bozeman, guitars, mandolin, vocals ; Barb Carbon, guitars, vocals; Justin Boudreau, bass; and Richie Jones, drums, vocals. Most often, either Ian Klin or Damian Kapcala joins them on keyboards.
