Herbie Hancock at The Mahaffey: The Moellering Gallery

The Herbie Hancock concert Sunday, September 15 at The Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg was so stunningly spectacular that we posted our review the next day. Given that quick turnaround, we were fortunate to get four very good photographs from audience members. Now we have access to Jeffrey Moellering’s incredible gallery of photos from the show. We are indebted to him (his website is snapzalot.com) and to Tampa Bay Music News for these (and be sure to check out TBMN).

Another intrepid archivist, Tim Mulaly, also provided excellent video from the show, and we thank him as well. This segment comes from the wide-ranging opening “Overture.”

The 84-year-old Hancock began recording and performing in 1961, and 63 years later he is still at it, and for that we are forever grateful.
