Riot Fest Says See Ya, Chicago!
After years of tension derived from locals, Riot Fest officially says goodbye to Douglass Park. They’re taking their punks and all of their money out of Chicago and into the suburbs to SeatGeek Stadium.
SeatGeek Stadium sits in Bridgeview, about 10.5 miles from where Riot has been grounded for the last several years. In the teaser for the new location, organizers officially dubbed the new spot as “RiotLand.” Also teased were new activities like a casino, an arcade, a gay nightclub, and much more.
The Skinny
New venue but same weekend, September 20-22. This year’s festivities will be headlined by Fall Out Boy, Beck, Slayer, Public Enemy, The Offspring, Pavement, St. Vincent, Bright Eyes, Zombie, Sublime, Dr. Dog and The Marley Brothers, and NOFX, currently on its farewell tour, will play all three nights at a special NOFX World section. Also set to perform are Riot commoners Gwar and Taking Back Sunday. In all, the lineup features over 90 bands. You’ll catch Manchester Orchestra, The Hives, Something Corporate, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and many more.
In teasing the move to SeatGeek Stadium, Riot Fest owner and co-founder Mike Petryshyn said in a statement posted Tuesday night that “our exodus is solely because of the Chicago Park District. Their lack of care for the community, you, and us, ultimately left us no choice.”

Tickets are now on sale for Riot Fest via the official website. A two-day General Admission pass starts at $190 and a three-day General Admission pass starts at $250. VIP passes, which include unlimited re-entry, access to a VIP lounge, air-conditioned restrooms and more, start at $290 for two-days and $360 for three-days.
