Welcome to Rockville Announces Move to Daytona Beach

Iconic rock music mega-festival Welcome to Rockville has announced it will move its festival location from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach for the festival’s tenth year. The festival will take place at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach on Friday, May 8, Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2020.

The three-day rock and roll festival has called Jacksonville home since the first Welcome to Rockville took place in 2011. The music festival continues to sell out annually with a stellar lineup that brings over 50 top music artists including well-recognized headline acts to a dedicated fan base. Welcome to Rockville reached its highest attendance figures in 2019 with over 99,000 fans in attendance over the three-day weekend. Festival promoter Danny Wimmer Presents announced that due to continued development of downtown Jacksonville, host site Metropolitan Park will not be available, resulting in the required move 87 miles south.

Welcome To Rockville might be leaving Jacksonville, but I’m not leaving Jacksonville behind. This is where it all began – not just for Rockville, but for me. I love my hometown, and I’m really proud of what Rockville accomplished in its nine years in Jacksonville. Unfortunately, there was no longer a space at Metropolitan Park for us to deliver the kind of festival experience that Florida’s rock fans deserve. I’m excited to have a larger site to work with that allows us the room to continue growing the festival experience. I hope all of our Jacksonville friends will join us in this next phase of Welcome To Rockville’s evolution.” — Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents.

Daytona International Speedway is now home to the ever-growing annual festival that features some of the biggest names in rock music. The speedway is known for its flagship event: the Daytona 500. However, this venue is no stranger to music festivals; it last hosted the Country 500 Music Festival in 2018. The short-lived annual Memorial Day country music festival lasted just three years at the historic motorsports race track, drawing crowds of 75,000 annually. The stages were set up on the track’s infield providing plenty of space and security for those attending. The venue also has plenty of built-in amenities, including food stations, bathrooms, and press boxes along with camping and parking options that are designed to accommodate crowds of more than 100,000.

With a solid commitment to bringing the best names in rock to the music festival stage, Danny Wimmer Presents is the music festival production and promotion company that has developed into a solid brand with a growing catalog of music festivals including Aftershock Festival, Bourbon & Beyond, Chicago Open Air, Epicenter Festival, Hometown Rising, Louder Than Life, Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival, and Welcome To Rockville. Previous DWP festivals include Rock On The Range, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion and more.
