Jonathon Long Plans Live Album Recording Friday in Baton Rouge

There are probably more great musicians of all sorts across the country and around the world than there are stars in the sky (OK, don’t check the math on that, but you know exactly what I mean). Everywhere you go there are fabulous players and singers knocking themselves out, either trying to be the next big thing, patiently biding their time, or happily playing the clubs in their local environment.

Here’s a name you should make note of: Jonathon Long. It’s possible you may have heard him referred to as Jonath0n ‘Boogie’ Long. Either way, we’re talking about the same guy. His first album, as Jonathan ‘Boogie’ Long, was Trying to Get There from 2016. That same year, he was one of the real musicians featured in a movie titled We Are Kings, a road music/musical with real musicians in the lead roles, including Long.

Long jumped to further prominence when his eponymous album was released last year, produced by guitar slinger Samantha Fish on her Wild Hearts Records label. Fish also added guitar to several of the tracks. About the album, she said:

“Immediately I felt the songs cut straight to your soul with a fiery command of the guitar that left everyone’s jaws on the floor.”

Long, a denizen of Baton Rouge, will honor his hometown this Friday, January 18th, when he will record a live album at Phil Brady’s Blues Club (and the show is free!). Fish will be along to supervise the recording, and there’s probably little chance of keeping her off stage the entire night!

And there is still time to vote for Long in the three categories for which he has been nominated by Offbeat Magazine!
