South Florida Fair Concert Series Delivers Musically Diverse Lineup
Once again, it’s that time of the year.
The 107th edition of the South Florida Fair runs January 18 – February 2 at the fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, bringing with it all the classic fair foods, interactive games and rides that fairgoers look forward to every year.
The musically diverse lineup includes Christian rock favorite Building 429, Southern rock legends The Outlaws, rising country star Frankie Ballard, hard rockers The Pat Travers Band, country sensation Jordan Davis, and Latin vocalist Charlie Aponte. The Coca-Cola stage will be the gathering place to watch a great collection of bands playing various genres of music including rock, country, pop, reggae, Latin and Christian music.

On Saturday February 2, the highly anticipated Rock Tribute Band Competition takes place where hand picked rock bands all compete on that day for a cash prize with the winning band headlining the night by playing a full set at 8:00 PM.
The competition rules are simple: rock out for 30 minutes and get judged on your performance. The tribute bands represent some of the biggest rock bands in history, including Guns and Roses, Eric Clapton, Styx, Van Halen, Pearl Jam, and The Rolling Stones.

While many come for the music, and there is plenty of it, the fair offers those who attend so much more. Some love the thrill rides, while others simply come for the food; after all, who doesn’t love fair food? Of course, we must remember that calories don’t count, and anything fried is okay.
If you ARE a fair foodie, you will have a chance to pick up some classic fair cuisine favorites including the traditional corn dog, chicken on a stick, buckets of fries, steak tips and mashed potatoes, fried Oreos, and the ever-popular donut cheeseburger.
About the bands:
BUILDING 429
The band’s name was inspired by the passage in Ephesians 4:29 and got its start in North Carolina when Jason Roy and Scotty Beshears met at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. The band was named the Gospel Music Association 2005 New Artist of the Year.
THE OUTLAWS
Through its 40+ years of performing, The Outlaws have become one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre. The band established itself in Tampa in 1972 and became known for its triple-guitar rock attack and three-part country harmonies.
FRANKIE BALLARD
He released his latest album, El Rio, to critical acclaim and was selected by Rolling Stone as one of the 25 best country and Americana albums of 2016 and The Tennessean as one of the best 16 Nashville albums of 2016.
THE PAT TRAVERS BAND
Canadian-born Pat Travers is a rock guitarist, keyboardist and singer who began his recording career in the mid-1970s. Considered a guitar hero by many musicians, Kirk Hammett of Metallica cited him as one of his favorite guitar players.
JORDAN DAVIS
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Davis graduated from LSU and briefly pursued the path of his degree working as an environmental consultant; however, his passion for music and songwriting eventually compelled him to move to Nashville in 2012.
CHARLIE APONTE
A Latin Grammy nominee and salsa legend! For more than 40 years, the Puerto Rican salsa singer was the lead vocalist for the nation’s legendary El Gran Combo. He became one of the most well known soneros, not only in Puerto Rico, but around the world.
The fair is a great time to connect with family and friends or maybe make some new ones. It gives those who attend a chance to spend time doing what they love doing most, eating, having fun and enjoying an some great local and national entertainment.
