Dave Matthews Band Ends Fall Tour in Charlottesville Hometown
Closing up their 2018 Fall Tour with a two-night concert in their hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, the Dave Matthews Band once again filled John Paul Jones Arena with eager and dedicated fans. For those of us in Charlottesville, no sweeter words are spoken than Dave’s “It’s good to be back home again.” From classics like “Bartender,” “Satellite,” “#41” and “Dancing Nancies” to hits from their latest album Come Tomorrow, Satellite Cop and Again and Again, including two covers (“Sweet Emotion” – Aerosmith & “Sledgehammer” – Peter Gabriel), and a collaboration with openers Preservation Hall Jazz Band on “That Girl Is Yours,” fans showed their appreciation for Dave and their hometown heroes. Encore performances of “Christmas Song” and “All Along the Watchtower” (Bob Dylan) completed the evening.
The fun didn’t end at JPJ; this is Charlottesville! Joe Lawlor, DMB crew member and talented guitarist – and a hometown hero himself – hosted an after-party at the Jefferson Theater with a group of friends that included Kristen Bowden, Andrew Waldeck, Nate Brown, Gina Sobel, Jeff Brodnax and Jack Sheehan with guest performances by Tim Reynolds, Jeff Coffin & Rashawn Moss from Dave Matthews Band and Branden Lewis from Preservation Hall.
The Dave Matthews Band 2018 Fall Tour and its ending in Charlottesville were just what we needed going into the 2018 holiday season.
