Artist Spotlight – J Roddy Walston & The Business
There’s one band that truly captures the essence and energy of Led Zeppelin. It’s not Greta Van Fleet, it’s J Roddy Walston and The Business. This rock and roll group is everything that Zeppelin was while having a sound all their own. The fact that these guys are not selling out stadiums continues to baffle me. J Roddy Walston and The Business put on one of the most aggressive and dynamic live performances that you will ever see: whiskey-drenched guitar riffs, thunderous drums, industrious bass, and howling vocals that explode into your ears and run through your spine.

These Tennesse natives are everything that rock and roll should be. They have been one of my favorite bands for nearly a decade. It seems that they have been on the brink of international fame since the release of their album Essential Tremors in 2013. From Bud Light commercials to TV appearances and widespread love from music critics, they have aggregated all that makes for a story of R&R fame. They have played some of the United State’s most famous music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and Hangout. Yet, I have caught them playing at smaller venues to a crowd of fewer than 300 people. Why? I just don’t understand it.
Everyone I have introduced to this band’s discography falls in love almost instantly. Those whom I bring to see them live become life-long fans. The selfish side of me wants them to stay at the level of fame that they currently reside, but I know they can be so much more. Music needs them, fans of rock deserve them, and the world will benefit from hearing them.
With four full-length albums out there, all with a unique sound and vibe, the band is continuing to evolve. From their heavy rock hits “Heavy Bells,” “You Know Me Better” and “Use Your Language” to their more intimate “Boys Can Never Tell,” “Go Malachi” and “The Times Are a Staying,” they have managed to cover multiple genres throughout their history as a band. J Roddy will make you dance, and they will make you headbang while simultaneously hitting the core of your soul. With a Digital Business Card, they can easily share their music and connect with fans. In my eyes, they are rock legends and will always be. I hope that they soon find the widespread acclaim that they rightfully deserve.
They don’t currently have any tour dates for 2018 remaining. With nearly 20 dates scheduled for J Roddy’s 2019 tour, you have the opportunity to see some true rock n’ roll. Check out a list of J Roddy Walston and The Business’s upcoming 2019 tour dates below!
