Sunshine Music Festival Taking a Hiatus in 2019
Florida music lovers have been hit pretty hard over the past few weeks with the recent news of both the Okeechobee and Wanee music festivals are taking hiatus for 2019. Now comes the news that Sunshine Music Festival will also be taking a year off.
The festival announced via its website that the festival will take 2019 off. The popular music festival has taken place the past few years in the same venues in both Tampa and Boca Raton, Florida.
MusicFestNews reached out to the festival’s publicist and Live Nation, but neither would provide any comment regarding the festival.
The music festival website had the following statement “Sunshine Music Festival will be on hiatus in 2019!” and “However, Tedeschi Trucks Band has some special plans for St. Pete/Tampa Bay/Gulf Coast and South Florida fans for next year!”
The Sunshine Blues Festival, which began in 2012, took place at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg and Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The festival garnered a loyal following each year and became the Sunshine Music & Blues Festival in 2015 before changing their name once again in 2016 to the Sunshine Music Festival, through the last shows at both venues in 2018.
Since the festival’s inception, Tedeschi Trucks Band have been the consistent act appearing every year as headliners. The Jacksonville-based band has developed a loyal following of the Grammy Award-winning musical power duo Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.
Music lovers in Florida will have to wait at least a year to find out if the festival will in fact return to the Sunshine State.
