26th Annual Moonfest Street Party Includes Music, Ghouls, Goblins and More
When it comes to street parties, what comes to mind is Mardi Gras. However, one of the largest annual street parties takes place every October in West Palm Beach, Florida. Moonfest, the costume-themed street party that has continuously been a part of those seeking a larger-than-life Halloween party, continues to provide some stiff competition to Key West’s Fantasy Fest, drawing crowds as high as 20,000 people in previous years.
This year marks the 26th year of Moonfest. While many attend to see what surprises are in store besides the outlandish selection of costumes, there is certainly a music festival-like atmosphere that brings together an extensive list of bands of varying genres that are set to perform.
Featuring three stages, a haunted house, and a $1000 cash prize costume contest, Moonfest provides just about anything for those looking for a night of shenanigans. Moonfest takes place over five city blocks on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm.
The main stage will feature the headline acts and costume contest, the second stage has a variety of hand-picked local bands, and the third stage, “Monsters of Mayhem,” is an EDM-only stage that promises to deliver non-stop music.
Information Society and Bow Wow Wow headline this years event. Also playing Moonfest are Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom, The Heavy Pets, Spred the Dub, Million Young, and Otto Von Schirach.
Energetic crowds attend Moonfest each year to check out an array of the most creative and hilarious costumes. If you want to be in the midst of one of the largest crowd-attended street parties, then Moonfest is the place to be. Above all, the Moonfest effects are felt long after the hangovers have passed and the costumes are packed away. The profits from the event are distributed to local charities including this year’s selections, Parent to Parent and All For One Pet Rescue, along with other local charities.
