The City That Never Sleeps – Brooklyn Comes Alive 2018
Brooklyn Comes Alive is a New York-sized superjam held at some of the best venues in town. Over 50 artists will take the stage for one day at Brooklyn Bowl, the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, and Rough Trade on September 29. All three venues are within six blocks of each other, which is about a four-minute walk for most New Yorkers. There will be tons of original music and some amazing tributes to the biggest names to ever play rock and roll.
This is the fourth year that Brooklyn Comes Alive will come to Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY.
This amazing event is influenced by some of the greatest musical communities in the world, including that of Brooklyn and New Orleans. The 50+ artists playing Brooklyn Comes Alive will be doing a lot more than what you would see in a typical set. The whole idea of this festival is to allow musicians to carry out passion projects, to play with some of their idols, and to create some of the most spectacular superjam collaborations in recent memory.
I’m especially looking forward to In Honor Of Col. Bruce Hampton, Butch Trucks, Gregg Allman & Those We’ve Lost and Purple Party a tribute to the late and great Prince. Casey Russell of The Magic Beans has been named the musical director of the Prince tribute. Talent will flood the stage, including the last bassist to ever play with Prince (MonoNeon), who will be part of the tribute along with Robert Searight, Nate Werth, Chris Bullock and Mike Maher of Snarky Puppy. Plus Ryan Jalbert, Lyle Divinsky of The Motet, Steve Swatkins from The Allen Stone Band, Shira Elias & Sammi Garett of Turkuaz, Will Trask of Great American Taxi, and Megan Letts of Mama Magnolia. It’s going to be pure funkalicious gloriousness; don’t miss it.
