The Reality Invite Future Vintage and Guavatron to Be ‘Politically Uncorrect’ — You, Too!
You might call Thursday night’s lineup at the Ringside Cafe in St. Petersburg a trifecta, a deluxe collection of three bands all of whom are cresting a monster wave of funk. The professed purpose of this show is the release of the third album by Tampa’s The Reality, titled Politically Uncorrect (look for a review shortly!). This manic quartet has been standing audiences on their collective ear for more than three years, and this new album is the perfect progression from Rhetoric to Car Trouble to this new one.
The Reality are: Dan Jones, guitar, trombone, vocals; Caleb Bone, bass, vocals; Brian BA Jones, drums, vocals; and Josh Kim, keyboards. They funk, they rock, they reggae, they shimmy — simply put, they have a damn fine time every time they hit the stage.
On the bill are two superb jamtronic bands: St. Petersburg’s Future Vintage and Guavatron from West Palm Beach. Future Vintage are: Matt Giancola, keyboards, vocals; Trevor McDannel, bass, synth bass; and Eric Layana, drums. Future Vintage will also pair with Holey Miss Moley for a show Saturday at The Movement Sanctuary this Saturday, May 5th.

Guavatron are: Roddy Hansen, keyboards/synths; Conor Crookham, bass guitar; Adonis Frangiskakis (Guava), guitar/vocals; and Casey Luden, drums. They have ten more dates coming up, including Orange Blossom Jamboree at Sertoma Youth Ranch in Brooksville May 17-20. The Reality will also be there.
All three bands are regulars on the club and festival circuits here in Florida, and any time two of them get together for a gig, there’s usually pandemonium. Just imagine what’s going to happen when all three hit the stage Thursday night!
Be prepared to dance your A$$ off!
