Who is Ready for Camp? Camp Bisco 2018 Lineup is Out!
Pack up your hiking boots and dancing shoes; we are going up the mountain, Montage Mountain, that is. In case you have not heard, Montage Mountain is the home of Camp Bisco, one of the summer’s biggest electronic festivals. This festival, curated by The Disco Biscuits, is housed at an offseason ski resort in Scranton, Pennsylvania. If that town name sounds familiar, it is because it is the home of the Dunder Mifflin Paper company.
If you do not know what that is, please take a week or so and binge-watch The Office. Actually, let’s all just take a moment to re-watch The Office anyhow, then come back here to finish the article.
Okay, now that we have all reacquainted ourselves with that, we may continue. This year’s Camp Bisco, or just Bisco, if you’d prefer, is stacked with some HEAVY bass. Right at the top of the list is the Bass God himself, Lorin Ashton, Bassnectar. This will be Ashton’s 10th Bisco, and he should not disappoint. (If we are being honest, he never disappoints.)
Also bringing the heavy-hitting, heart-palpitating, take-your-breath-away bass will be Excision. Jeff Abel AKA Excision will be making the trip across the border from his home in Canada to grace us with some of the heaviest, nastiest bass in the game. This will be Abel’s last US date before his own curated festival in September, so it should be one to remember.
There are so many other great acts — Lotus, Papadosio, TAUK, and Ghostface Killah, just to name a few — and all rounded out by six wonderful sets of The Disco Biscuits. Expect more detailed coverage on each artist in the weeks to come, but for now let’s talk about the festival that is Camp Bisco.
Bisco is a camping festival, but unlike most other festivals there is no option for car camping. That is right, so start investing in battery packs now if your technology is important to you, though this seems like a great opportunity to unplug, if you ask us. Campers park towards the bottom of the mountain and must haul all camping gear up to the top. They do offer numerous services to help with getting your luggage up the mountain, but still encourage light packing and bringing your own utility wagon. VIP and RV packages may offer more convenience, so check into one of those if the idea of a little hike stresses you out.
Once you make it up the mountain, camp showers are free, though they do not include hot water; those can be had for just $5 at the resort. In our experience this is cheaper than most festivals, so scrub a dub dub. All other amenities are standard festival fare: wonderful greasy food, ice and water stations, etc.
Overall, this year’s Camp Bisco is shaping up to be a real banger with a 100% chance of good vibes and times to be had by all. If you are thinking about going, DO!
