Artist On the Rise: Elle King
There has been an influx of amazingly talented women breaking on to the alternative scene, and Elle King fits right in among them. She decided she wanted to become a singer/songwriter after hearing The Donnas at age 9. By the age of 16, she was touring New York. After taking a break to attend College in Philadelphia, Elle returned to New York and landed a record deal with RCA Records where she released a four song EP titled ‘The Elle King EP’ in 2012. Kings first full length album Love Stuff is set to be released February 17th 2015. This new album perfectly pulls Elles unique sound together, a voice that demands attention with melodies to match. Although Elle may initially come off as a bad-ass chick who doesn’t take any shit when she sings her single ‘Ex’s and Oh’s”, this album lets us in on a softer side of her with the song “See You Again”.
If you haven’t noticed Elle King in the spotlight lately, it’s a great time to start. She recently performed her single “Under The Influence” on Late Night With Seth Myers, and her song “Playing For Keeps” has been featured on Mad Men. She has also been touring like crazy. Catch her live to see an amazing rendition of “My Neck, My Back” that is guaranteed make the entire audience break out into a sing-along. Catch Elle at Hangout Music & Arts Festival and Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this summer, and download her new album Love Stuff !
