With Okeechobee Music Fest a Month Away, Long-Awaited Schedule is Finally Here!
The long-awaited Okeechobee Music Festival gave its fans something to be excited about this morning with the release of their schedule, just a month away from the doors opening up. Thousands of people from around the country now have time to prepare for what acts they plan to see when they arrive to smack dab in the middle of the tropical weather and cool nights of Florida.
Upon ‘Entering The Portal,’ the festival opens up on Thursday, its first day, to a kick-off party at the Aquachobee Beach for you to unwind and get ready for three days of incredible music. This is a great way to relax once you finish setting up your campsite. There will be acts performing such as Octopus Kid, Tauk, and Escort. Later on that night, if you still want to keep it going, Jungle 51 Stage will also open up for what will be a wonderland for anyone looking to dance ’til sunrise arrives.
The first official day of the festival opens up around noon with the first performance of the day from Yardij, which recently won the Okeechobee-sponsored contest for a slot at the festival. This would definitely be an incredible act to catch before they blow up, considering they will now be an opening act for Jon Bon Jovi’s tour. The rest of the day will have tons to explore with four stages to choose from with the Be, Here, Now, and Aquachobee Stages.
As the sun begins to go down, the genres represented are extensive, and around 5 pm you have the choice to go see a brass band performance from Funky Dawgz or catch an incredible electronic act such as Haywyre or Louis The Child. The opportunity for great times is countless and will have you either hanging out by a stage all day or have you running around like a kid at Disney experiencing a fantastic collection of music. The lineup is so stacked that three prominent acts such as Mac DeMarco, BadBadNotGood, and Logic will be going on near the same time. The main stage performances will close out way past 1 am with a visually stunning live performance from Flume and his recent Skin World Tour, which was so successful that the last time he was in Florida he had to do a second show during his time in Miami. Another recommendation is to make your way to catch Vulfpeck or jump into the dance party over at Jungle 51 to close on a successful Friday.
Opening their second day, Okeechobee Music Festival and ThisSongIsSick.com will be hosting a beach party during the day at the Aquachobee Stage. This party will bring together incredible acts like Kasbo, Louis Futon, Brasstracks, and Whetan. Going on just next door, you will also have the chance to see the funk legends George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic going on at the Now Stage. If you plan to stay at one stage today, the lineup on the Be Stage will have you bumping to the styling of GRiZ, Rae Sremmurd, and Bassnectar, which will have you jumping through the crowd for hours on end. If you are exhausted from the beach party, maybe it’s best to cool down with singing performances from Solange and Sturgill Simpson and a chance to catch the PoWow! Mash-up in between. Then, the night will close down with the powerhouse combination of Usher and The Roots. No matter where you end up on Saturday, fight the sleep bug and stay up all night for what will be an incredible collection of people dancing under the moonlight over at Jungle 51. You might want to catch the sunrise with Ryan Elliot, resident DJ of world-renowned Berlin techno club Berghain.
As we close in on the last day of the festival, whether your’e trying to catch up on your sleep or don’t remember the last time you tucked yourself to bed, the last day will be sure to leave you on a high note. The day will go on at the four day stages and will host a number of fantastic local acts like Jacuzzi Boys and Okeechobee Gospel Soul and Guests. The day turns to night, and everyone should then make their way to catch one of the hottest acts in America, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals. We begin to see the Aquachobee call it a success as D.R.A.M and Pretty Lights take over the Here and Now Stages. As the last hours of the festivals come to a close, Kings of Leon will give festies their last moments at the main stage with what will be the closing of a highly-anticipated second year. If you don’t want to say goodbye, the Jungle 51 stage will keep the party going way into Monday morning for those that aren’t ready to leave the magical site of Sunshine Grove in the heart of Florida.
Okeechobee Music Festival will be in Okeechobee, FL, from March 2-5. GA tickets are still available for this 4-day event through their official site. The full schedule can be found here.
