Get Ready to “Put It In the Dumpsta” at River Rock Music Festival!
Perhaps you really love concerts and the thought of festivals but aren’t quite ready to camp for a weekend, trying to sort out dozens and dozens of bands.
Have we got the perfect suggestion for you: the third annual River Rock Music Festival held at Tampa’s beautiful Water Works Park this Saturday, November 5 from 4 -11 PM. This year’s edition features performances by Dumpstaphunk, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Max Norton and Gritt.
Importantly, all proceeds will benefit Voices for Children of Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough County Guardian ad Litem Program.
Get ready to “put it in the Dumpsta” as Dumpstaphunk brings their nasty New Orleans funk to Tampa. This quintet blows up every festival they play, including two brilliant shows at last month’s Bear Creek Bayou. The band features Crescent City royalty in the form of Nevilles: Ivan on keyboards and vocals and Ian on guitar. The band features two bass players — Nick Daniels and Tony Hall — except when Hall switches to guitar! And Alvin Ford, Jr., anchors the proceedings on drums. Horns? Probably.
Deland’s Roadkill Ghost Choir has been very busy this past year with shows throughout the Southeast, including sets at Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival and Bristol Rhythm & Roots Festival. They lace their rock with great pop and country elements and intelligent lyrics. RKGC are: Andrew Shepard, vocals & guitar; Zach Shepard, bass; Maxx Shepard, drums & vocals; Stephen Garza, guitar & vocals; and Kiffy Myers, pedal steel & banjo.
Max Norton is a Tampa native now hailing from Nashville, where he plays drums with Benjamin Booker. He is a singer-songwriter and accompanies himself on guitar.
Gritt first appeared on our radar last December with an excellent show in Gainesville featuring the band’s “garage blues and psychedelic rock.” Their enthusiastic, full-frontal performance knocked out everybody who heard them. Gritt are: Gytis Garsys, vocals & keyboards; Jonathon Franklin, bass; Max Rowe, drums; and Ian Heausler, lead guitar.
