FUNK CANCER: The 2016 Title Fight at the Ringside
Put on your pink boxing gloves and head to the Ringside Café Saturday. It’s time to FUNK CANCER!

Why – We want to FUNK CANCER UP!”
Pretty clear, don’t you think? This event is hosted by Mitch Gray and the Ringside (bless you, Mitch) and is sponsored by Island Flavor & ‘Tings (grocery, restaurant & catering) and Robert D. Rehnke, MD, FACS.
And this eight-round bout speaks for itself, just dripping with FUNK from start to finish. The Rev. Funky D and compatriots come out swinging in Round 1 as Porkupine, and it just keeps punching from there. Row Jomah brings their clever rock and funk filled with hooks next, followed by Justino & the Difference, channelling ’70s fusion and so much more.
The Gulfport boys, Ajeva, have Round 4, cruising on their fine new album Evolve. Serotonic jabs with their ridiculously funky jazz (or is it the other way around?). And then prepare yourself for the deep funk uppercut with The Juanjamon Band, and we mean deep!
Holey Miss Moley will crush the penultimate round as they have been doing every time the funky soul juggernaut hits the stage. And it only makes sense for jamtronic kings Future Vintage to deliver the KO in the last round.
Last year’s event was generously hosted by The Amsterdam, our beloved and now shuttered venue just a couple miles down Central Avenue. Row Jomah, Serotonic, Ajeva and Holey Miss Moley were part of that one, too!
Here is your fight card for Saturday! You KNOW you don’t want to miss this!
