Party at The Obamas’: The President Releases His Summer Spotify Playlists!

It’s a bittersweet moment. As the end of his second term in office approaches, President Obama has dropped his final summer playlist as the leader of the free world. Whether you adore him, or it’s more of a “LoveHate Thing” for you, there is no denying that our President has got some serious taste.

Obama has gifted us with two genre-spanning playlists. The 17-song daytime mix features classic artists from Nina Simone to The Beach Boys. POTUS shows off his superhip side with the inclusion of trendy newcomers such as Leon Bridges, Courtney Barnett and Gin Wigmore. This is most definitely a backyard BBQ mix. Labor Day weekend anyone?

Obama keeps rolling the tunes out into the night with another 18 songs to end your day. His nighttime playlist keeps it chill with a smooth mix of jazz, soul and R&B. I can definitely see Mr. Pres unwinding to some D’Angelo in the Oval Office after a hard day of healthcare reform and fending off the haters. Fiona Apple’s “Criminal,” on the other hand, requires some imagination.

This time last summer, Obama joined Spotify to release his picks of 2015. Personally, I think he’s stepped it up this year, but you can decide for yourself. Check out last year’s playlists here.
