The Northside Festival Schedule is Here!
Northside Festival, celebrating the best of music, innovation and content, has revealed its 2016 programming schedule, taking place June 6-12 in the heart of North Brooklyn. Now in its eighth year, over 100,000 creatives and tastemakers will ascend on Brooklyn to discover what’s next across music, innovation and content, with panels, keynotes, events and a music lineup featuring over 400 artists with newly added acts such as Grandmaster Flash. Highlights from the schedule are included below, and details can be found on the festival’s website.
Indie-rock powerhouse Wolf Parade will kick off Northside Music with a massive free show on Thursday, June 9th at neighborhood hub McCarren Park. On Friday, June 10th, the space will turn into a giant block party with hip-hop and DJing pioneer Grandmaster Flash. (Both shows are free with RSVP on a first-come, first-served basis; Music and Premium badge-holders guaranteed entry.) On June 11th, crossover country star Kacey Musgraves and indie-rock hero Conor Oberst will co-headline the McCarren stage. The following night, the legendary Brian Wilson will perform Pet Sounds in its entirety, plus other fan favorites, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the landmark album to close out the festival on June 12th. Both shows are benefits for the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA), a nonprofit dedicated to building a stronger North Brooklyn by improving 45 parks and playgrounds and getting neighbors involved in their parks.
