Magnolia Fest is Out, and Suwannee Roots Revival is In!
It’s been a busy couple of days with news just pouring out of Live Oak, Florida! Not only is Wanee 2016 kicking into gear today at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, but we learned that Bear Creek would be making a comeback this year as Bear Creek Bayou in New Orleans. To top all that off, early this morning it was announced that one of the park’s most beloved festivals, Magnolia Fest, would be moving to a new location this year. The festival shared the news with fans this morning on Facebook:
Magfest Family and Friends,
After much thought and consideration, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will not be producing Magnolia Fest at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in 2016. Instead we will host a Magnolia Fest 20th Anniversary Celebration in St Augustine at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. It will be a one day event on Saturday, October 15 with a pre-party on Friday, October 14. St Augustine is a beautiful city with wonderful beaches, there are a lot of hotels and also camping right next to the venue, with easy access to the Jacksonville Airport. Details will be released in the next couple of weeks.
Rising costs for talent, production and the inability to negotiate a deal with the Spirit of Suwannee make it impossible to do this event in Live Oak without a substantial increase in ticket prices or a reduction in the quality of the show.
Magnolia Fest has been a magical experience for years and a place for family and friends to come together every fall to enjoy some of the best music in the country. Always cherish those memories.

But before we could even wrap our heads around this sad news and what it could possibly mean for one of the best festival venues in the country, news broke of a brand new festival, the same weekend, at SoSMP! The Suwannee Roots Revival wasted no time jumping right to business with a phase-one lineup announcement and the promise of even more. Donna the Buffalo, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Blueground Undergrass, John Stickley Trio, Big Cosmo, Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, Sloppy Joe, Quartermoon, Grass Is Dead and Sauce Boss are all on the bill so far.
Early bird tickets for Suwannee Roots Revival are now on sale on the festival’s official site.
Stay tuned for even more from this new festival, as well as what Mag Fest will have in store, and tell us what you think of all of the changes in festivals this year!
