Got plans for Friday, March 25th, in Orlando? CANCEL ‘EM! Have we got a party for you! Four great bands are headed for the House of Blues, and you can pick up free tickets to the show. How can you beat that?
This is the brainchild of Savi Fernandez, the superb guitarist and performer, and his great band, plus a bunch of his friends: HOR!ZEN, Ancient Sun and Someday River. You know This is going to be a great night!
I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Savi and writing about him extensively over the past few years, including a feature about Savi and review of his fine album, From My Heart, released last year. Savi has played with many great musicians; his current band includes Nasrulah Rahbari on bass and Bruno Ufret on drums. Their blend of reggae, funk and rock is an uplifting experience every time out. HOR!ZEN also hails from Orlando. These guys throw down “Dirty South dub rock.” The band includes Z, guitar and vocals; NASH The Crash, drums and vocals; MRC, saxophone and vocals; and Reef, roadie/ understudy. They describe their sound as “reggae music with a hip-hop backbone.” Official Facebook page.
One band on the rapid rise is Ancient Sun, another source of Orlando pride. Their version of groove rock includes blistering blues, wailing psychedelia and flat-out funk. Ancient Sun are: Rick Krasowski, guitar and vocals; Tom Shea, tenor saxophone and vocals; Nasrulah Rahbari (pulling double duty), bass and vocals; and Jason Zane, drums. they’ve been blowing it up at clubs and festivals all over the state. Official website.
Also on the bill is yet another great Orlando product, Someday River. This trio lists its genres as indie, pop, folk, funk, but they forgot jam, because that’s what they did so well when they impressed at Little Econ Love Fest. Someday River are: Greyson Charnock, guitar, vocals, synth; Sean Boyle, percussion; and Kyle Fournier, bass. Official website.
Let’s review: four great bands, and you can get free tickets by contacting one of the bands. Forget those other plans you had. Put Savi’s House of Blues show on your calendar! Show’s Facebook page.
