Gasparilla Music Festival Returns for Fifth Year of Great, Diverse Music
The Gasparilla Music Festival returns for another two-day romp on the riverfront in downtown Tampa March 12 & 13. If you cannot find music you like at GMF, chances are you are from Mars! The festival organizers have put together another amazing lineup of talent from almost every genre imaginable.
Just look at the schedule. You want funk, hip-hop and soul? How about Erykah Badu, Antibalas, Talib Kweli, and Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires? Pretty good start.
Jazz, straight up, funky and more? Go with Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, Serotonic, Acme Jazz Garage, New Breed Brass Band, and Gumbi Ortiz & New Groove City. There is an entire Latin stage Sunday (MacDill Park Stage).
Rock in all its variations? Lucero, Houndmouth, Ms Mr, Futurebirds, Blitzen Trapper and lots more are ready for you. How about bluegrass and folk? Check out Greensky Bluegrass, the Applebutter Express, The Whiskey Gentry, Fruition and David Wax Museum.
Reggae? Stephen “Ragga” Marley. Blues? Damon Fowler. Electronica/EDM? Savoy. Organic jamtronica? The New Deal. See what we mean? And do NOT forget the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir!
