Melody Trucks & Friends in Asheville, Atlanta Thanksgiving Weekend

Southern roots-rock vocalist and percussionist Melody Trucks and Friends featuring The Fitzkee Brothers and Tony Tyler have a pair of shows this weekend, first in Asheville on Saturday and then in Atlanta on Sunday. The November 30 show will be at the Asheville Music Hall, with December 1 at Moonshadow Tavern. Both shows will also feature many “hometown special guests,” and Vaylor Trucks will perform at the Moonshadow show.

Trucks is the talented vocalist & percussionist whose great career has taken her to stages and festivals all over the country. The daughter of Allman Brothers Band founder and drummer Butch Trucks, she also shares her late father’s passion for music education, working at Roots Rock Revival, the program Butch started for musicians of all ages to learn from some of the greatest musicians on our scene. She and brother Vaylor, who also is committed to Roots Rock Revival, will be back on Jam Cruise in February for the similarly purposed Masters as Sea program.

The Fitzkee Brothers are two young men who are amazing singers, songwriters, and musicians. Nicknamed the “Thump Brothers” for their tight and funky rhythm section, they have been amazing audiences with their killer live performances ever since December of 2018, when they took the stage at their first full band rock show in Rehoboth Beach. They have been performing with Melody Trucks for several years now. She has said she wasn’t looking for another band but that the band found her!

Tony Tyler was steeped in the Southern soul styles of Little Richard, Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Black Crowes among others. The Macon native has worked for years in Georgia and Florida, a true triple-threat on guitar, Hammond B3 and keyboards, and vocals (and he also plays drums!).
