Dōpapod: Best Friends Tour and New Year’s Eve Run Before 2025 Hiatus

The Dōpapod Best Friends Tour continues to rock on, beginning with shows in St. Louis and Kansas City with Cycle. They have two very special dates at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom with Circles Around the Sun: THE OGOPOGO MONSTER’S BALL, and then six pairings with Spunj, including their Halloween show at Volcanic Theater Pub in Bend.
Next up are three nights with Reed Mathis in California and three more Cali dates with more friends. The Boston-based quartet then go cross-country for shows right after Thanksgiving at Brooklyn Bowl and its Philadelphia counterpart. That run of shows includes three at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, all three sold out.
The FINAL shows are the five dates of the Dōpapod New Year’s Run: Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo for two nights, one at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, and the last two at Woodlands Tavern in Columbus. The Columbus shows are sold out, and many others are getting close, as fans all over are snapping up tickets quickly.
As a reminder, in August, they announced they would go on hiatus starting in 2025.
Dōpapod are: Eli Winderman [keys, vocals], Rob Compa [guitar, vocals], Chuck Jones [bass], and Neal “Fro” Evans [drums].
You have likely observed that all nine of Dōpapod’s studio album names are palindromes, as are their first two live recordings. And the live 2023 album Coloradopapod is great, too. Thanks to Wikipedia for their note about the names of the two latest albums:
Dōpapod released Aiboh on April 20, 2024. At the time, it was their only studio release to have a non-palindromic title. They released Phobia shortly thereafter on April 25. Together, the two titles form the word aibohphobia, a nonstandard term for a supposed irrational fear of palindromes.
