Yam Yam: Purveyors of Funk, Jazz, Gospel, Jam & Psychedelia
Yam Yam claim to “create vibrant, soulful music, drawing from jazz, gospel, jam, and funk.” Anyone who has ever seen them live can confirm. The Harrisburg-based quintet are halfway through their summer/fall tour, and their third studio album, Slurp Slurp, just landed a month ago.
Yam Yam play Thursday, September 19, at Waterhole in Saranac Lake and Friday at The Stone Church in Newmarket. They have a run of dates in the Midwest in early October and more in DC, Elkton, and Wilkes-Barre at the end of the month. November shows recently added include a show with a gig with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong in Buffalo and a pair of dates with TAUK.
Yam Yam are: Michael Dempsey, piano, organ; Xander Moppin, bass; Jason Mescia, saxophone; Tom Fuller, guitar; and Tyler Fuller, drums.
