Naughty Professor — with VOICES!

Naughty Professor have been representing the Crescent City for well more than a decade, playing outstanding jazz funk (and funk jazz) with one foot squarely in the tradition and one foot stepping into the future. Their three-horn attack and superb guitar and rhythm section cover the full range of jazz expression with remarkable precision during their live performances.

Naughty Professor

Naughty Professor are: “Wild” Bill Daniel, guitar; Noah Young, bass; Nick Ellman, alto and baritone saxes; Ian Bowers, tenor sax; John Culbreth, trumpet; and Sam Shahin, drums. They are, by nature, an instrumental band, although they have performed with vocalists such as Chali 2na, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, and David Shaw.

From the group:

We are rolling out our long-awaited guest feature album Voices! Each song features an amazing vocalist as a guest artist, including Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball, Marcus King, Maggie Koerner, Jordan Anderson, the Vanguard Singers, and more. It was produced by Andrew Campanelli of The Revivalists, and the results are really special!

We’re releasing one single a month, so this is a continuing story about creating with musicians who inspire us. This month we are excited to release the song “Anytime” featuring Jermaine Holmes and Rojo Lavoe AKA the Vanguard Singers (backup vocalists with D’Angelo)!

Naughty Professor Voices’ song release dates:

05/31/24 – “Scrollin” featuring Tarriona “Tank” Ball

06/28/24 – “Gotta Get Back” featuring Josh Kagler

07/26/24 – “Anytime” featuring Jermaine Holmes & Rojo Lavoe

08/30/24 – “Daydream” featuring Chrishira Perrier
