Melody Trucks & the Fitzkee Brothers Band: On the Road to Roots

Melody and Vaylor Trucks are totally involved with Roots Rock Revival – A Music Masters Collective Event, the project their father, the late Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks, helped established. It will be held at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian NY July 29 through August 2.

Roots Rock Revival is a four-night, five day, all-inclusive exploratory adventure that features master classes, jam sessions, Q&A sessions, open rehearsals, and so much more. Whether you’re a fan, musician, or both, you’ll get an intimate look at the Southern Blues Rock movement, the Allman Brothers Band, The Grateful Dead, and the music that formed the foundation of Rock ‘n Roll.

Melody hadn’t planned on putting together another band after her outstanding Florida collective all went separate ways, but blame the Roots Rock Revival concept for her current group, featuring The Fitzkee Brothers (drummer Alex and bass player Drew) from Delaware and two fine Maryland players (guitarist Otto Grundman and Nick French on keyboards). She has been playing with these young men (Alex is 17; Drew is 19) for two years, and they are stunning. The depth of their grooves is amazing.

And now they are on the Road to Roots, beginning July 18 with a show at Fager’s Island in Ocean City MD, with more shows in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware before heading north toward New York. On July 27, Melody & crew will headline Rootsapalooza – a Roots Rock Revival Preparty at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park with The Matt O’Ree Band, Des and the Swagmatics, and Ryan Gregg.

They will also headline Roots Rock Revival Afterparty August 2 at The Bitter End in New York featuring Ryan Gregg, Jaden Lehman, and Roots Rock Revival All Stars.
