4th Annual Bear Shadow Music Festival Set to Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with Music & Nature.
With just days to go before the 4th annual Bear Shadow music festival gets underway this weekend, May 11 and 12, excitement is building for headliners JJ Grey & Mofro and Black Pumas along with a fantastic undercard. Set to take place on the grounds of the bucolic Winfield Farm nestled among the verdant hills Scaly Mountain, NC, the boutique event is almost sold out but still has a limited number of tickets available both online and at the gate.
Also appearing on the main stage, called “Base Camp,” are American Aquarium, Futurebirds, and North Mississippi Allstars on Saturday, May 11 and Grace Bowers, The Record Company, and White Denim on Sunday, May 12.
Situated just outside the historic resort town of Highlands, NC the festival offers far more than just music for fans seeking an idyllic getaway to the mountains of western North Carolina. Named for the bear-like shadow that appears each fall and spring behind one of the region’s best known and breathtaking landmarks, Whiteside Mountain, Bear Shadow is in close proximity to some of the best hiking trails in the state along with an abundance of fishing, boating and kayaking opportunities in the area’s many lakes, rivers and streams. Highlands also features fine dining, shopping, historic sites, botanical gardens, and luxury accommodations.
Free shuttles will run continuously between Downtown Highlands and Winfield on Saturday from 1-10 p.m. and on Sunday from 12-9 p.m. Shuttles will pick up/drop off guests at the Highlands Community Center (864 N. 4th Street), Highlands School (545 Pierson Drive), Regions Bank (161 Spring Street), and directly at Base Camp gates. Limited on-site parking passes are still available for $25 per car each day for Saturday and Sunday.
Produced by non-profit organization Highland Festivals, Inc. and Eleven Events, Bear Shadow is dedicated to preserving the lush forests, breathtaking mountains and natural beauty of the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. The festival has donated $20,000 to local organizations including the Highlands-Cahsiers Land Trust and Highlands Biological Station. A portion of this year’s ticket sales will benefit the the Sky Valley-Scaly Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
In honor of Wildfire Preparedness Month and Teacher Appreciation Week, Bear Shadow is also offering a special Buy One, Get One (BOGO) promotion exclusively for North Carolina-based firefighters and teachers. Eligible participants can take advantage of this by using code BearShadowHero24 when purchasing tickets online.
