The HeadTones: Heartful of Soul… & Funk & More!
Evolution is at the heart of the music of The HeadTones, St. Petersburg’s dynamic sextet pumping out an amazing amalgam of genres. The band first emerged in the reggae community but quickly began expanding their horizons, with huge doses of funk and soul dripping from their performances. They combine a wonderful old-school approach with killer horns, keyboards, and electronics.
The HeadTones are: Josh Magwood, guitar, vocals; Stephanie Perez, guitar, vocals; Shawn Carson, bass, vocals; Carmine Pocchia, trumpet, keyboards, vocals; Jamal Hasan, saxophone, keyboards; and Mike Sowers, drums.
Every member of the band contributes to their amazing sound. Shawn Carson and Mike Sowers have the rhythm tied down tight, as trumpet, saxophone, and keyboards (Carmine Pocchia and Jamal Hasan) a-plenty color everything. The band is fronted by superb singer Josh Magwood, who also plays guitar, and St. Pete’s guitar-shredding queen Stephanie Perez.
