Melody Trucks and LOTS of Friends — Busy, Busy, Busy!

Melody Trucks’ commitment to the next generation of musicians is unwavering. She and brother Vaylor continue their work with Roots Rock Revival, the summer camp program initiated by their father, Butch Trucks, the late drummer of The Allman Brothers Band. Melody and Vaylor just spend much of the recent Jam Cruise involved with Masters Camp at Sea, working with aspiring musicians of all ages wanting to up their game, highlighted by the Participant Orchestra Finale Concert on the last day; it was glorious.

Melody Trucks has been working with a pair of Delaware teenagers for almost two years: The Fitzkee Brothers, drummer Alex, 16, and bass player Drew, 19. The band also includes great guitarist Otto Grundman and keyboard star Nick French. They are on the road again (with fabulous parents ), on the way to SXSW in Austin. Melody and The Fitzkees have separate sets on Monday, March 11, at the Return of the REAL Unofficial Showcase at Empire Control Room & Garage. On Wednesday, March 13, they will be part of a powerful Happy Humpday lineup at the same place.

Melody, Alex, Drew, Nick, and Otto will join forces again in May for a run of shows from Maryland on down to Florida. They will open at Zen West in Baltimore, then playing Falls Church and Ocean City. They will continue south to Charleston Pour House for an Allman Betts Band afterparty with Isaac Hadden Organ and then to Brunswick. The feature of the tour is a headlining set at Sunshine Get Down in Brooksville FL with Vaylor, and the band will finish the run in Melody’s hometown of Jacksonville.

The Lee Boys have been playing on a number of cruises, but they will get off long enough with reunite to Melody for two shows of their incendiary spiritual fire at the end of March.
