Papadosio fans from near and far migrated south and gathered in fellowship to ring in the new year with their favorite band.
Jannus Live’s open air venue made for an ideal setting for Papadosio to host their annual New Year’s Eve show. The location of the venue mixed with the beautiful views of the sky and surrounding buildings made for an incredible experience all around. Hats off to St. Petersburg!
The night started off with support from Mystic Grizzly, Mindex, 5AM, and Funkshway, all of which did a great job of keeping the vibes rolling until it was time for Papadosio to hit the stage.
The show began with a fan favorite instrumental track from the Microdosio album, “Cubensis.” Next up was “State of Things,” a hypnotic and mesmerizing song from the band’s latest release To Live a Making. They then transitioned into the horn-laden track “Shiitake.”
By this time the crowd was well settled in and grooving to the beautiful sounds gracing their ears. “Boss Battle” and “Fly Agaric” were up next, followed by the rare gem “Each and Every Wave,” which has recently found its way back into the band’s live rotation.
The band played “Everyone is Cool” into “Cue” as the midnight hour approached, shifting gears into “Improbability Blotter” just minutes before the new year arrived, reducing intensity mid-song to make room for a countdown. At this point there was a strong sense of jubilation amongst the fans as everyone counted down in unison, shouting “three… two… one… HAPPY NEW YEAR!” as confetti completely saturated the venue space in a moment of pure ecstasy. The confetti continued to fall as they wrapped up the track and transitioned into the next one.
Closing out the night was the live-only tune “Paradigm Shift,” followed by the emotion-evoking song “All I Knew,” which manifested an intense aura of warmth and love amongst the fans as the new year began. The song “Night Colors” closed out the performance with its soaring leads, concluding the band’s three-stop Florida run.
Later this month, Papadosio will connect with like-minded artists Desert Dwellers for seven shows up and down the West Coast. They will match up with TAUK for three nights on the East Coast, and they will be part of this year’s Resonate Suwannee at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in April.
