Melody Trucks & the Jackson Stokes Band Collaborating on Southern Tour

Melody Trucks, the outstanding percussionist and vocalist, has fit herself perfectly into many musical contexts: with her own bands, with brother Vaylor Trucks in Brother and Sister, with The Lee Boys, with Joe Marcinek, with the Allman Betts Family Revival, with Roots Rock Revival, and with The Fitzkee Brothers. The daughter of the late Butch Trucks of The Allman Brothers Band begins a seven-show Southern run with the Jackson Stokes Band beginning Thursday, January 18, at The Commodore in Charleston and in Savannah the next night before five shows in the Sunshine State.

If you are as yet unfamiliar with Jackson Stokes (as we were), the guitarist and singer-songwriter was unaware growing up that he was living across the street from Devon Allman in St. Louis. Stokes knew little about the Allman Brothers. However, encouraged by his father and holding his guitar, the 11-year-old Stokes knocked on Allman’s door. And that, as they say is history; Stokes has since earned a stellar reputation sharing the stage with such icons as Robert Cray, The Wailers, and Robert Randolph as well as Warren Haynes, Lukas Nelson, and Marcus King.

Trucks has four other dates on the calendar: two in February in Florida with The Tony Tyler Band and two in Baltimore with The Fitzkee Brothers.

Stokes has 14 more shows upcoming, with some in Florida, others in New York and the Midwest, including his hometown album release show February 16 in St. Louis at Off Broadway with The Charlie Mellinger Band, Kris Lager, and other guests.
