Richard Barone’s New Book: ‘Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s’
Richard Barone has a new book about to be released titled Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s. You may know Barone from his time as frontman for The Bongos, a seminal power pop band that flourished in the ’80s. He is also a songwriter, arranger, author, director, and record producer. His solo albums are outstanding and highly praised, and he has created nationally recognized concert events.
Barone is a superb author who has penned numerous essays for various publications and wrote Frontman: Surviving the Rock Star Myth, detailing his career in music up to its publication in 2007.
In 2016 he recorded a wonderful album titled Sorrows & Promises: Greenwich Village in the 1960s. Barone has been a devotee of New York, Brooklyn, and Greenwich Village ever since he moved there from Tampa in 1980.
And the celebration is about to start for Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s, which goes on sale Thursday, September 15. Barone correctly calls it:
