Borderland Music + Arts Festival Just Around the Corner
With Borderland Music + Arts Festival just weeks a way, the excitement is building for the return of the two-day event that showcases an eclectic mix of national and regional music acts as well as the local culture and beauty of upstate New York. Scheduled to take place September 17 & 18 at bucolic Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora, NY, Borderland will feature a diverse lineup headlined by America’s preeminent psychedelic rock outfit The Flaming Lips and Grammy-winning alt-rockers Portugal. The Man.
They’ll be joined by the bards of positivity, Michael Franti & Spearhead; one-man jam band, Keller Williams, who’ll be blending the music of the Grateful Dead with an eight-person gospel choir for Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel; Grammy-winning bluegrass ensemble The Infamous Stringdusters; and boundary-busting fusion quartet Spafford. Also appearing will be Buffalo’s own beloved roots music stars Donna the Buffalo; the lords of New Orleans funk Dumpstaphunk; breakout New Jersey-based jam band Dogs In A Pile; and regional American heroes Driftwood.
Rounding out the weekend will be local artisans, vendors, a Sunday football zone near the Homespun Stage where local bands will perform, live painting, local craft beer, food, and culinary experiences. A curated kids’ area with face painting, games and music is free for all kids ten and under.
Another star of the weekend is Knox Farm State Park where attendees can enjoy 633 acres of natural beauty including hiking trails, grasslands, woodlands, ponds, and wetlands. Once a private country estate complete, the park boasts stables, farm facilities, and pastures where a number of horses, llamas, goats, and chickens call home.
