Wolf Twin: Heather Gillis’ New Musical Vehicle

After her knockout set at Suwannee Rising in April, singer/songwriter and guitarist Heather Gillis told us she was planning to begin recording under a new name. From the new website:

Wolf Twin is the latest project from Heather Gillis, a Nashville-based guitarist and singer/songwriter whose roots cover Southeast blues, traditional American music, and the jam band community. Gillis uses Wolf Twin as a canvas to put her personal spin on these genres, fusing the bluesy energy of her previous work with elements of rock, indie, and pop and creating a musical style that is fresh and innovative yet recognizable to new listeners.

Gillis has been hot on the music scene ever since 2015, and this new move connects her to some great musical traditions. The first two singles from her new album, “Quick & Dead” and “Worry,” both channel Hill country blues — dark and brooding, heavy on rhythm, much like R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough.

She performs at The Basement in Nashville August 22. In September, she will be in Macon for GABBAfest 2022 and then the Big House Members Jam.
