Maddy O’Neal Teams Up with Balkan Bump for New Single “Follow Me”: LISTEN

For the love of horns, electronic music trail blazer Maddy O’Neal is out with her latest single “Follow Me” featuring trumpeter, DJ, and producer Balkan Bump (Gramatik/Talib Kweli) and topped off with vocals by Home Malone. The new track comes on the heels of “Never Fades,” the first single released in May from O’Neal’s sophomore album debuting this September.

Fueled by its trap-influenced beat, “Follow Me” is a robust summer anthem brimming with multi-dimensional elements. Future bass queen O’Neal harnesses the spirit of reggae, layering in Home Malone’s vocals over bumping beats and lush horns, including Will Madrid’s (a.k.a Balkan Bump) sparkling trumpet. Listen to “Follow Me” below.

“Horn sections and electronic music definitely have a sweet spot in my heart,” said O’Neal in a statement. “When I started ‘Follow Me,’ I heard an almost TroyBoi-inspired bass-heavy beat with a trumpet line cutting through the track. When I tapped Balkan Bump, we were both immediately on the same page. There are so many merging genres and inspirations in this one track that make it super unique from anything I’ve heard.”

Innovation is an O’Neal trademark, with dazzling live performances consisting of original compositions, drum pads, and diverse storylines ranging from down-low bangers to shimmery mid-tempo vocal bass tracks with loving nods to disco. The bass maestro is currently on tour bringing “Follow Me” and other album singles to life at festivals across the U.S., including Lollapalooza, Secret Dreams, Same Same But Different, Lost Lands, and more.
