The Peach Schedule: Six Dozen Options Over Four Days
With 72 bands on the schedule, you CANNOT see everybody at this weekend’s Peach Music Festival (June 30 – July 3) on Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Obviously, you need to plan. Carefully. If you’re the “I only want to see the headliners” guy, well, probably not too many of those people anyhow. The headliners are fabulous, but there are a bunch of outstanding undercard bands for you more adventurous types. We’ll point out a few.
THURSDAY, JUNE 30
If you’ve never had the pleasure of Samantha Fish’s company, do yourself a favor. Great to see Midnight North on the lineup! Consider the Source is a triumvirate force of nature with stunning skills, and South Florida favorites Tand have been skyrocketing of late, especially with their set at Summer Camp.
Billy Strings, Trouble No More, Keller Williams, Yam Yam, JD Simo, Miss Mojo, and Carly Moffa fill up the remainder of the “easy” first day, with only two stages in play. Just you wait, ’enry ’iggins, just you wait!
FRIDAY, JULY 1
Lacuna is the magical pairing of Tom Hamilton and Holly Bowling. We’ll never NOT encourage you to go to the rail for Doom Flamingo! Brother & Sister is the wonderful family affair with Vaylor and Melody Trucks, and so good to see The Jauntee back on the road!
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, Steel Pulse, Andy Fraso & the U.N., Eric Krasno & the Assembly, The Motet, Marco Benevento, The Boogie Band, Kitchen Dwellers, The Nth Power featuring Jennifer Hartswick, Funk You, Eggy, Little Stranger, Snacktime, Wax Owls, Gabriel Kelly and Evanoff are crammed into the overflowing schedule.
SATURDAY, JULY 2
We suspect Ripe will make the most of this great opportunity. Celisse absolutely blew us away at Suwannee Hulaween last year. It’s always a delight watching Karina Rykman and her band. If you are unfamiliar with Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, we would strongly recommend you fix that. What an unbridled joy he and his band threw down at Suwannee Rising in April!
Trey Anastasio Band, Goose, The Revivalists, Ripe, Rayland Baxter, Celisse, Karina Rykman, Jaimoe & Friends, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, The Shady Recruits, Neighbor, Melt, Cordovas, Friends of the Brothers, Cycles, One Time Weekend, Pixie & the Partygrass Boys, Chalk Dinosaur, Dry Reef, JB Strauss, and Muskrat Lightning make this a full-frontal party!
SUNDAY, JULY 3
Star Kitchen and Spaga are magnificent offshoots of The Disco Biscuits, Star Kitchen with Marc Brownstein and killer funky fusion band and Spaga with Aron Magner on piano and a brilliant trio. Bobby Lee Rodgers remains one of the greatest guitarists. Anywhere. Any time.
The Black Crowes, The Word with Robert Randolph, John Medeski, Luther Dickinson, and Ray Ray Holloman, G. Love & the Juice, The Wailers, Duane Betts, TAUK, Dogs in a Pile, Maggie Rose, Daniel Donato & Friends, Hannah Wicklund, The Wild Feathers, Sicard Hollow, GA-20, and Great Time all help close out the weekend in style.
Pace yourself. For REAL, this one is a marathon, NOT a sprint!
