Dave Matthews Band Cancels Both West Palm Beach Shows Due to COVID
The Dave Matthews Band were scheduled to perform on consecutive nights starting on Saturday (5/28) and Sunday (5/29) night in West Palm Beach. They have announced the cancellation of both of the South Florida shows at iThink Financial Amphitheater. The statement posted on the bands official website reads:
“Due to a positive Covid case inside the band, we must regretfully postpone tonight and tomorrow nights’ appearances in West Palm Beach, FL. We are incredibly sorry to all our fans who planned to spend the holiday weekend with us. Please hold on to your tickets as we work towards a rescheduled date.”
The longtime indie rock band last performed on Wednesday (5/25) in Tampa. Following the West Palm Beach shows, Dave & company are set to travel to Charleston, SC for a two-night run set for June 3 & 4. The shows appear on the band’s website as scheduled, for now.
The Dave Matthews Band will reappear in Florida for another set of shows slated for June 6 & 7 in Jacksonville.
The official statement didn’t mention specifically which member of the band had tested positive, but it was enough to cancel both nights of the South Florida run. The band’s two-night performance at iThink Financial Amphitheater is one of a handful of cities on the tour where the band performs on two consecutive nights annually. Tickets for the shows sold-out quickly once they first went on sale on February 25. As Covid-19 cases continue to spike across the nation, Florida has been hit particularly hard over the past few weeks and the tri-county (Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) lead the state in new cases.
A makeup date will be announced on the official Dave Matthews Band website.
