18th Annual Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance

What has four days of music, 50 bands, four tents and stages, gorgeous surroundings, and thousands of music lovers? Why, it’s the 18th Annual Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance, coming to you Thursday through Sunday, May 5-8, in Pittsboro, North Carolina!

It’s still not too late to join in on the fun and excitement and music. You’ll find the Meadow Stage, Carson’s Grove, the Dance Tent, and the Cabaret Tent. There are great activities such as yoga and workshops in the morning and throughout the day and music going on all day (except for the Happiness Parade Saturday with Paperhand Puppets and Bulltown Strutters! THURSDAY, MAY 5

The opening ceremony begins at 4:30, and the relatively light schedule includes perennial favorites Donna the Buffalo plus The Hourglass Kids, The Shoaldiggers, and Sam Fribush Organ Trio with the incomparable Charlie Hunter.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

Thursday was easy. Now you’ve got two dozen options! Sophistafunk, Cabinet, Fireside Collective, Donna the Buffalo (round 2), Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast, The Mantras, Kitchen Dwellers, and The Tan & Sober Gentlemen are just part of the lineup. SATURDAY, MAY 7

Just as jam-packed today. You could hear Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Ryan Montbleau Band, Julia., Jimkata, Arson Daily, Donna the Buffalo (round 3), Garafolo Brothers, Jose Albizu Quartet, and more than a dozen others. Why wouldn’t you? 

 

SUNDAY, MAY 8

You’ve worked hard all weekend. Time to relax, just a little bit. At least 16 options, musical and otherwise, for the closing day. Sam Fribush Organ Trio with Charlie Hunter return, plus Into the Fog, Elastic Bond, band contest winners, and Ashley Heath & Her Heathens are part of your day, which will close with Shakori Hills Grassroots J.A.M. with Donna the Buffalo and many friends.
