“Dance With Me” embodies the spirit of a city known for its resilience, distinctive culture, and colorful characters who fill the accompanying music video. A cross-section of the Crescent City’s cultural standard-bearers appear in the video including trumpeter Kermit Ruffins, trombonist Big Sam of Big Sam’s Funky Nation, True Orleans Brass Band, and DJ Polo 504. The video also features the splendiferous talents of the city’s street and parade culture including the Baby Dolls, Zulu Tramps, Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale, Pussy Footers, and Beyjorettes. View the video below.

“I think everyone wants to dance; they just need something to dance to – a song to let them know it’s ok to let go of all the crazy around us for a second and dance,” said Allen in a statement. “This song makes me feel like that even when I don’t want to. So, I hope anyone that listens feels that same energy.”

“The music video for ‘Dance With Me’ is by far the biggest representation of several different True Orleans cultures at once. No paid actors, all True Orleanians, real culture-bearers, that makes it feel authentic. It’s my video, but the people of True Orleans made this video special. I’m glad I got to witness it and had a front row seat to something special like this. I want the world to get a glimpse of what’s really going on down here. True Orleans shows me a lot of love.”

Recorded and produced by Allen at his New Orleans studio, True Orleans 2  highlights the gifted musician playing trumpet, trombone, drums, keyboards, and bass as well as programming the electronic drums. The 13-track album also features his working band on some of the tunes including bassist/guitarist Kyle “Corndawg” Chervanik, guitarist Matt Galloway, and drummer Clarence King. True Orleans 2  is Allen’s fourth full-length studio work and follows True Orleans, released in 2018, 504-799-8147 (2011), and Box Who In? (2009).

Allen, who has collaborated with the likes of Patti LaBelle, Lenny Kravitz, Willie Nelson, and hometown heroes Galactic and Harry Connick, Jr. among others, hits the road starting April 7th for for an extensive spring and summer U.S. tour in support of True Orleans 2.
