Inaugural Daze Between New Orleans Bringing Audacious Lineup to The Big Easy
In a city stuffed to the gills with mind-boggling music choices, particularly during the long-running New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, along comes the inaugural Daze Between New Orleans, offering a two-day event featuring a tantalizing gumbo of jam, jazz, funk, R&B, folk, and more. Set to take place May 3-4 at Faubourg Brewery in New Orleans East on the days that Jazz Fest goes quiet, Daze Between NOLA will showcase headlining performances by jamgrass titans The String Cheese Incident along with national touring acts and a host of the Crescent City’s finest talents.
Presented byPurple Hat Productions, Live For Live Music, GMP Live, and Rose Tours, Daze Between New Orleans will see Grammy-winning jazz-funk collective Snarky Puppy along with Eric Krasno & Friends, Nicholas Payton, Erica Falls, and Benny & The Late Bloomers performing on Tuesday, May 3. The Wednesday, May 4 lineup will be highlighted by psych-funk gods Lettuce in addition to Rebirth Brass Band, The Iceman Special, Honey Island Swamp Band, and The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr.
The event will take over the spacious back lawn at the Faubourg Brewery while attendees can also enjoy its state-of-the-art brewery and taproom. What’s more, fans can sample some of the cuisine that has made New Orleans a delight for foodies around the world from Fete au Fete “strEATery,” a renowned catering and food-truck service that provides mouth-watering menus at local food halls and events. The festival will also host an Artist Village featuring a variety of local artisans and vendors as well as live painting exhibitions and a career-spanning gallery by renowned local painter Frenchy, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Rex Foundation, a charitable organization founded by members of The Grateful Dead.
“To me, Jazz Fest has always been more than just a festival that takes place at the Fair Grounds on two separate weekends,” says Live For Live Music founder Kunj Shah. “It’s the food, it’s the culture, it’s the late-night shows. It’s a chance to recapture our love affair with New Orleans during the days between. With this new festival, we’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute something special to this city that has given us all so much music, culture, and inspiration.”
Adds GMP Live founder Gideon Plotnicki, “We are so excited to bring this new event to life at the beautiful Faubourg Brewery. New Orleans is such a special place, especially during this time of year, and we are proud to create something new and meaningful in a city that is so near and dear to our hearts.”
Daze Between New Orleans goes further with its love of the city by partnering with Rex Foundation, which supplies grants to small nonprofits working in the arts, sciences, education, environment, indigenous culture, and social justice. A part of all ticket sales will go directly to New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations. In addition, a virtual auction will offer fans a chance at NOLA- and Grateful Dead-themed artwork, experiences, and memorabilia. “We are truly honored and excited to bring a new Daze Between tradition to New Orleans at this wonderful venue and community resource, The Faubourg Brewery,” notes Purple Hat Productions founder Paul Levine. “We are thankful to work with Rex Foundation to support several New Orleans charities. We appreciate the Faubourg Brewery team for giving us this opportunity and working with us to start something special that will contribute to the landscape in between weekends of Jazz Fest for years to come.”
