Lightning in a Bottle 2022 Announces Theme and New Elements
Do LaB, the creators of Lightning in a Bottle, just sweetened the experience for fans headed to the legendary festival’s reemergence next year on the shores of Buena Vista Lake in Southern California with a slew of new programming elements and theme. Set to take place May 26-30, the five-day event will embrace the magic of reconnecting with “Where Lightning Strikes,” a theme that embodies LIB’s longstanding ethos of creating space for expression and togetherness.
To support fans’ needs to reconnect, Do LaB has reimagined the Lightning in a Bottle 2022 experience to incorporate a number of new and improved elements including LIBeach, a new sandy beach where festival-goers can indulge in a daytime opening party on Thursday, May 26, with artists to be announced. A new layout is also planned that will mean less walking between stages while a roaming cast of Art Cars promises pop-up surprises throughout the week.
In order to fully embrace the festival’s mission, flagship stages Thunder and Woogie will expand programming. Thunder, traditionally known as the festival’s bass enclave, will transform into a tree-lined theater showcasing multiple genres and what promises to be its biggest lineup to date. Fan favorite Woogie will expand its bookings to include a full day of techno and house talent on Thursday.
Do LaB is also premiering a new stage at LIB next year – Junk in the Trunk. Seen at Burning Man, Junk in the Trunk will replace Favela as the event’s host locale for California’s favorite native house and techno artists.
Fans looking for a premiere festival camping experience can also expect more creature comforts with a new VIP option that includes backstage lounges at the Lightning, Thunder, and Woogie stages; full bars, and an elevated viewing area at Lightning to watch the event’s headliners.
LIB also revealed Atlaswyld, a new boutique camping experience that is a festival-within-a-festival featuring glamping options and elevated content. Fans can wake up in a luxurious fully furnished Bell Tent, Kodiak Canvas Tent, or Airstream trailer and participate in tailored yoga and wellness classes, culinary programing, and happy hour mixers, among other high-end encounters. Glampers will also have full access to the Atlaswyld lounge, premium restrooms, showers, and campground amenities.
These new elements will complement the event’s multi-decade commitment to bringing together forward-thinking music across many distinct stages, educational and cause-driven discussions and activities at The Compass, and immersive programming from favorites like The Grand Artique, Unicorn Palace, and much more. Founded in 2006, LIB has featured dazzling lineups that have included high-wattage stars such as Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Moby, Big Gigantic, Disclosure, Clozee, Santigold, Odesza, GRiZ and Bonobo. Stay tuned for an announcement about LIB’s 2022 lineup in the near future.
