Railbird Adds Robert Earl Keen and Katie Pruitt to Already Stacked Lineup
Railbird Festival sweetened the pot just a little more for fans headed to this weekend’s sold-out event with the announcement that up-and-coming singer/songwriter Katie Pruitt and chart-topping Americana artist Robert Earl Keen will be joining an already mind-boggling lineup. Set to take place August 28 & 29 on the historic grounds of Keeneland in Lexington Kentucky, the two-day festival features headliners My Morning Jacket, Leon Bridges, Dave Mathews Band, and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.
Pruitt and Keen will join a wide-ranging undercard that includes Billy Strings, Midland, The Black Pumas, Margo Price, Khruangbin, The Revivalists and Band of Horses among others. With the 2020 release of her critically-acclaimed debut album Expectations, Nashville-based Katie Pruitt turns heads with her raw vocals layered over a guitar-fueled sound steeped in folk, country and rock and roll. She has toured with such artists as Canadian roots musician Donovan Woods and alt-country star Ruston Kelly and landed on NPR’s “20 Artists To Watch” list in 2019.
Houston native Robert Earl Keen helped put Americana on the map when it was officially recognized by the music industry in 1998. Keen was the genre’s first artist to be featured on the Americana Music Chart and on the debut cover of the radio trade magazine The Gavin Report that featured Americana. With 21 records to his name, a band of stellar musicians, and thousands of shows under his belt, Keen has blazed a trail that includes the top-rated American Podcast. Created by Keen and producer Clara Rose, Americana Podcast has stoked interest in artists such as Billy Strings, Lori McKenna, Drew Holcomb, and I’m With Her.
Put on hold in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Railbird returns with health and safety protocols in place including proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test and a request that fans mask up when in close proximity to others.
