Tand Announce Upcoming Album, Concert & Festival Dates
One of the greatest aspects of observing our favorite bands is watching them reinvent themselves, expanding their ranges, tapping into more genres. The evolution is so enjoyable to watch.
Tand, a quartet from South Florida, is a fine example. The members came from several different groups and collaborations and emerged as Tand in 2018, and since then they have been blazing a trail through the Florida jam scene. We have always enjoyed this band of rockers, but over the course of two music festivals this spring (and surely many concert appearances as well) Tand absolutely exploded right before our very eyes and ears.
First, it was Fool’s Engagement Music & Arts Festival:
Another true Fool’s delight was the performance of Tand, yet another band that has reinvented itself with more shining facets to their music. I’ve always been a fan, but this set was several quantum levels up, as they bit into some superb prog rock and then deep funk. Taylor Godsey, guitar; Peter Krause, bass; Ali Nassar, drums; and Daryl Wolff, keyboards (but no key-tar!) muscled through a truly fine show.
Next up, Orange Blossom Jamboree:
Tand from South Florida had reinvented themselves at Fool’s Engagement, adding prog rock and jamtronica to their already-wide repertoire. “My Cloud” featured several great shifts/segments, while “Expert On Nothing” began as almost Americana, Daryl Wolff on piano, before they rocked completely out, killer guitar from Taylor Godsey. They dedicated “Kite” to a friend, opening softly and roaring to a close, anchored by Peter Krause and Ali Nassar on bass and drums.
At that point they called Adonis Guava from Guavatron on stage as they worked slowly into the Dead’s “Jackstraw.” They noodled on that for a bit before shifting into… “Rooster” (Nine Inch Nails). Eventually they worked back into “Jackstraw,” then into a ridiculous jam with Godsey and Guava blasting and Wolff soaring on synths and finally back to “Jackstraw.” THAT was a mind-blowing half-hour!
