Jimmy Buffett Announces Four Night Concert Run in South Florida

It’s time to dust off those salt shakers and start nibbling on sponge cake as Jimmy Buffett announces a four-night spring run of concerts starting on May 13 thru May 18 at The Pavilion at Old School Square in Delray Beach, Florida. These come in advance of 19 shows rescheduled from last year’s shelved tour, beginning July 10 in Indianapolis.

This will mark the return to live in-person performances for Buffett, who last performed in 2019. Parrotheads, as longtime fans of the band are known, have been able to catch virtual live stream performances of Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band during the pandemic, but nothing compares to “wastin’ away” at a Buffett concert. If you have ever attended a Buffett show, you already know it’s not just a concert but an all-day “Margaritaville” affair of cold beer, good music, and plenty of reefer. It’s the laid-back, easy-going lifestyle that Buffett was first drawn to as a teenager while he spend summers sailing the ocean with his grandfather.

“We are honored to host a music icon as beloved as Jimmy Buffett, whose songs also perfectly depict the island vibe lifestyle we offer here in Delray,” Old School Square CEO Holland Ryan said in a statement. “We’re incredibly humbled that Jimmy and his team selected our safe, secure, open-air venue to bring back his live performances, and we look forward to these special nights with Jimmy’s classics and best-known gems under the stars.”

Interestingly, Buffett, whose fans travel near and far to see him perform, usually sells out 20,000 seat venues, so it’s interesting that he will be playing a venue that hold 222 socially-distanced 4-seat pods for a capacity of 888 people per night. For those fortunate enough to score a pod, they will get an upclose experience in an intimate setting rarely available for an artist the stature of Jimmy Buffett. However, it is Old School Square that has been able to draw huge names in music to perform live in that venue with their socially-distanced safe pod setup since their first concerts began last November.

While the pandemic raged, Buffett has been quite busy keeping his Parrotheads grounded with a steady helping of live stream concerts along with releasing two new studio albums Life on the Flip Side and Songs You Don’t Know By Heart both in 2020. There are two virtual events coming up may 1 and May 8 (details in concert calendar below).

Jimmy Buffett is scheduled to perform four nights at Old School Square in Delray Beach on Thursday, May 13; Friday, May 14; Monday, May 17; and Tuesday, May 18. All the shows are set to start at 8 p.m.
