Manic Focus Releases New Single “Fractured”: Listen
Globally acclaimed producer Manic Focus (a.k.a John “Jmac” McCarten) continues his winning streak of musical gems created in the time COVID-19 with the release of “Fractured,” a deep, velvety mix of electronic bass, country rap, soul, and hip hop. The track is the first released this year following a packed 2020 which saw McCarten using time spent in quarantine to put out seven singles and one EP collaboration.
“Fractured” hews closely to McCarten’s electro-soul style, opening the tune with silky vocals laid over resonant bass and guitar. The song soon pulls the curtain back on captivating samples and steamy slowed-up beats with stylistic origins rooted in Southern rap and the “chopped & screwed” hip hop pioneered by Houston mixmaster the late DJ Screw.
