Live for Live Music,, Cervantes’ Present The Funk Sessions Saturday

The Funk Sessions had become a tradition at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver thanks to a collaboration with Live for Live Music from 2019 into last year, presenting top-shelf funk collaborations with great musicians from Denver, from Colorado, and beyond. The Funk Sessions return again this Saturday, February 13, and this time it is more important than ever before. The concert will be live-streamed courtesy of Music starts at 8:45 p.m. MT / 10:45 p.m. ET.

Proceeds from this first 2021 edition of The Funk Sessions live stream will benefit Backline, the music industry’s mental health and wellness resource hub. And the lineup is ridiculous!

Start with Shira Elias (Turkuaz) and Lyle Divinsky, on vocals. Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds, Matador! Soul Sounds is the bandleader and will play guitar along with Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. Keyboard wizard Joey Porter (The Motet) packs the most funk per pound. The rhythm section features bassist MonoNeon (Prince, Ghost-Note) and drummer Alvin Ford, Jr. (Pretty Lights, Dumpstaphunk). Rounding out the band are trumpeter Gabe Mervine, and saxophonist Nick Gerlach.
